Cornelius H. Sweere passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on March 15, 1902 in Holland to the late Henry and Wilhelmina (Vandenheuvel) Sweere. On October 13, 1925 he was united in marriage to the former Miss Henrietta Sanderfoot in Kimberly, Wisconsin. Cornelius came here from Holland at the age of 18. He farmed for many years in Minnesota and Wisconsin before being employed by Consolidated Papers from which he retired in 1967. He loved roast beef with potatoes and gravy, also peaches from Mary's Place in Appleton. He was an avid card player with an incredible sense of humor. Family meant a lot to him, he had a kind, generous spirit and spent his life doing what he loved best, service to others. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. He is survived by four daughters: Elaine (Albert) Ebben of Mackville; Evelyn Daul of Virginia; Patricia Murphy of Hortonville; Mary Pat Schiller of Arizona; twenty-seven grandchildren; seventy-five great-grandchildren; seventy-seven great-great-grandchildren; two great great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Henrietta, his son Orville Sweere, three brothers, three sisters, son in law Karl Daul. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at St. Pius X Church, 500 W. Marquette St., Appleton, with Father Brian Belongia officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, Thursday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and from 9 a.m. Friday, until the time of service. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, on Friday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established by the family.
