OWATONNA- The funeral for Cornelius Sweere, 704 S. Elm Ave. will be at 11a.m. today at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Harry Jewison will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Butler.

Mr. Sweere died Friday, Nov. 10 at Health Central of Owatonna. He was 88.

Mr. Sweere was born July 6, 1901 in St. Anthony, Holland and was educated in Holland.

On June 8, 1932 he married Gertrude Hofland in Butler.

Mr. Sweere farmed for most of his life near Butler.

He and his wife have made their home in Owatonna since 1967.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Sweere is survived by his wife, Gertrude; five sons, Theodore of El Toro, Calif., Harry of Minneapolis, Edward of Mankato, Joseph of Owatonna, and David of Eden Prairie; a daughter, Veronica (Sweere) Chatterton, Minneapolis; 30 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call an hour before the services today at the church. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 10:40 a.m. at the church. Brick-Postlewaite Funeral Home: Schoeneberger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
